The Vision:

	Putting 'Smart' into the Grid
	This one-day workshop will define key areas where communication facilitates increased intelligence of grid operation management, increased decision making intelligence for consumers and increased efficiency for the utility billing back office. The workshop will explore how current grid operations can be enhanced by intelligence that comes from data collection and the implications of the exponentially large amounts of data associated with Smart Grid implementations. It will also help users discover how utility companies have made their grid Smart in a scalable manner in preparation for the future.
	Making Smart Grid Relevant to your Customers
	This one-day workshop brings to life the current state of the Smart Grid. The technologies, that will revolutionize the utility operations and service delivery, will be described in terms that are understandable to those charged with implementation and relevant to electric utility customers. Delivered from a technology perspective, the course will also be an open forum for participants to discuss areas of interest in the Smart Grid.
	Fast Start for the New Grid
	This one-day workshop is an overview of the Communication Methods (Switching, Wireless, Routing, and IP), Security (Wireless, VPN), Data Collection and Storage (Data Centers).This information will allow the Utility and the end customer to work together in managing demand, allocation and control of energy resources.

The Operation:

	IP Fundamentals
	This one-day workshop introduces Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol(IP) networking as the foundation upon which intelligent control and remote management systems are built. TCP and IP are both universal protocol standards that provide reliable secure connectivity to and communication between metering/monitoring devices in Utility-focused environments.
	Wireless Fundamentals
	This one-day workshop focuses on the Wireless Communications (802.11 a/b/g/n) and other Wireless technologies that enable data, e.g. AMR (Automated Meter Reading), to be gathered at collection points without the need for a wired infrastructure.
	Cyber Security Fundamentals
	This one-day workshop explores the contours of the emerging discipline of Cyber Security. This high-level overview targets executives, leaders, board members, senior IT managers, compliance directors, and legal staff. The course objective is to explore the dimensions of the changing Internet landscape in connection with the organizational risks posed including: government–industry partnerships and national security dimensions and business opportunities and imperatives in the emerging security-heightened environment.
	Communication Fundamentals
	This one-day workshop identifies devices and protocols used in legacy grid operations and how those protocols will be integrated with and/or replaced by other protocols and devices as the Smart Grid unfolds. The course compares various communication scenarios currently implemented in Smart Grid deployments.
