Course Description
A highly interactive class that explains concepts of successful Time Management for demanding jobs where there is just not enough time in the day. The majority of the workshop is spent working in teams of two to analyze current time allocation, develop improvement strategies and best practices that can be executed on immediately. Toolkits will be introduced in each of the three modules that can be used by Individual Contributors and their Management over time to refocus time utilization.
Learning Objectives
To give participants a deeper look into the Time Management Process that will allow for greater realization of time against value-adding activities which ultimately will result in more time spent on value added activities while decreasing the amount of time spent on non value added/non essential tasks.

Course Overview
Module 1 – Analysis of Current Time Utilization (2 hours)
- General discussion of early findings based on pre-work
- Further Analysis of time utilization by classifying activities from pre-work in two new categories:
- Previously identified – timeframe: one week
- Change Demanded – timeframe: less than one week
- Last analysis of time utilization based on:
- Individual generated
- External Request
- Using frameworks (toolkit) developed during the time analysis, develop percentages and conclusions of analysis; result is an understanding of the value of current time allocation, planning time framework and who is driving their time allocation – all this is measured on a percentage basis versus their SE roles and responsibilities.
Module 2 – Developing Time-based Change Strategies (1 hour)
- Group Discussion on output of Module One – Analysis and conclusions
- Identification /Options of “Time Traps” (Toolkit)
- Develop “Order and Priority” guidelines for Time Allocation; this Toolkit would identify “success criteria”.
- Identify change behavior strategies and requirements for better time allocation
Module 3 – Implementation Planning (1 hour)
- Review calendar for the next week, month, quarter regarding change strategies and success criteria.
- Develop implementation plan to upgrade future calendar allocations to include communication plan for those affected by new time allocation. (Toolkit)
- Develop review dates (Toolkit), every 90 days:
- Determine percentage of time consistent with time allocation success criteria; identify areas for improvement
- Success Criteria; potentially to adjust to current job requirements
- Develop “coaching plan” with Manager to reinforce appropriate time allocation changes
- Summary: Implementation Plans presented by selected participants to reinforce the learning objectives
