I was teaching the Finance for Non-Financial Professionals class at a division of a Fortune 200 company. The Divisional CFO attended the training and mentioned to the class that the material on Accounts Receivable was particularly important, as they needed to reduce A/R to achieve their bonus targets that year. I took extra time on that subject, so we could brainstorm ways that the unit could reduce A/R days outstanding from 45 down to 40, and free up cash. We then sent the list to the CFO after the training session. He was thrilled.
