Course Contents

This hands-on course focuses on core Cisco networking concepts for learner application to job tasks in a relatively simple network. You will be able to setup and teardown labs, configure network devices, upgrade and maintain network equipment, verify and troubleshoot network device connectivity, and troubleshoot basic network problems. This course includes review sessions to test for learner understanding as well as a session focused on preparing for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam.


Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will gain foundational knowledge required to prepare for the CCNA-level certification exam. Utilizing the skills learned in this course, participants will be able to install, operate, and maintain a small-to-medium sized network based upon Cisco products.


Who Should Attend

Individuals who possess a general networking background, have prior experience with the Cisco Internetworking Operating System (IOS), and are seeking CCNA® certification are the target audience for this class. Targeted learners perform jobs in engineering support, development test engineering and other technical areas that may have a need to interface with Cisco networks on a daily basis.


Recommended Prerequisites

To fully benefit from CCNA Bootcamp, you should already possess certain prerequisite skills, which can be gained from formal Cisco training courses or through work experience.

The participant should have working skills and knowledge of the following:

  • Basic browser navigation
  • Basic understanding of Local Area Network (LAN) operation
  • IP addressing
  • Routing principles

Course Outline

Course topics include basic networking components and terminology, TCP/IP fundamentals, LAN and WAN construction, router/switch configuration, IOS image maintenance, usage of static routes and dynamic routing protocols, management of remote devices, and basic network troubleshooting skills.

  • Host-to-Host Communication Model
    • OSI reference model, DHCP, DNS
  • TCP/IP Addressing Fundamentals
    • IP subnetting, VLSM, NAT/PAT, IPv6
  • Packet delivery in a TCP/IP Network
    • TCP, UDP, ARP, Ping
  • Ethernet and Wireless Networking Principles
    • LAN principles, RF Basics, Wireless Security
  • Cisco Network Device Startup and Configuration
    • IOS basics, CLI, performing image upgrades
  • Implementing Switched networks
    • VLANs, trunks, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
  • Forwarding Traffic in a Routed Network
    • Routing principles and protocols, RIPv2, EIGRP, OSPF
  • Utilizing WAN Technologies
    • Point-to-point, PPP, Frame Relay
  • Creating Security and Managing Traffic
    • Access Control Lists (ACLs), Telnet/SSH remote access
